# AI search for Shopify: semantic search and natural-language filters

IntentSea Search keeps ordinary text search as the foundation and adds AI features on top, each one optional and measured before it is switched on.

## Features

- **AI synonym suggestions** (Growth and above). The app proposes synonyms from your catalogue and searches. You review each suggestion before accepting it; accepted AI synonyms stay separate from the ones you typed.
- **AI product attributes** (Pro and Scale). Attributes such as material or style are extracted from product text. Coverage shows how many products have each field, with values and confidence, and you can create a filter from a populated field.
- **Semantic search** (Pro and Scale). A multilingual embedding model adds product candidates when text search finds too few matches. Your rules, publication status, Market, language and selected filters still limit the final results.
- **Natural-language filters** (Pro and Scale). A phrase such as "red dress under $50" can become removable filter chips. Removing a chip repeats the original query.
- **Concept map** (Pro and Scale). A per-shop map of related concepts built from your own catalogue and shopper behaviour; you can accept, edit or remove links.
- **Help assistant** (Growth and above). Answers questions from the IntentSea knowledge base and cites its sources.

## You decide when AI turns on

AI is not enabled by default. You start a control/AI experiment, wait at least 14 days, and promote the AI variant only after at least 1,000 searches per arm and a statistically positive revenue per search. A trial never enables AI for everyone automatically.

## Safeguards

- If the AI model or vector lookup is unavailable, text search answers the request.
- Monthly model-call allowances are capped by plan (Growth 300, Pro 1,500, Scale 6,000); ordinary search keeps working when an allowance is reached.
- Vector cache entries carry the model version and a daily check watches for model drift.
- Raw cost, margin and order records stay private inputs and are not returned in search responses.

## Data

Search queries may be turned into numeric vectors and cached without being linked to a store or shopper. Product text is processed by the model providers listed in the [privacy policy](https://intentsea.com/privacy).
