Home catalogues mix furniture, textiles, lighting and decor. A short, consistent product taxonomy helps shoppers narrow a broad query without promising a particular search outcome.

## Example field map

| Shopper intent | Possible data field | Example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Shop a room | Collection or tag | `living-room` |
| Compare materials | Selected text metafield or tag | `linen` |
| Choose a finish | Variant option | `Finish: Oak` |
| Narrow product kind | Product type | `Table lamp` |
| Check a dimension | Title/description or populated text field | `120 cm` |

Examples are illustrative. Search filters only have useful values when the source data is present, selected and indexed; a text metafield should not be presented as a numeric range filter. Use readable collection names and avoid duplicating near-identical tags with different spellings.

When planning a seasonal room edit, create a temporary collection and use a scheduled merchandising rule only after products are assigned and dates are confirmed. Keep the filter taxonomy stable when the campaign ends. See [filters](/guides/filters), [seasonal search checklist](/guides/seasonal-search-checklist) and [ranking](/guides/ranking).
