# Find and fix zero-result Shopify searches

> Use IntentSea Search analytics, synonyms and product checks to investigate Shopify searches that return no products.

Start with the exact query in Analytics. IntentSea Search reports popular searches, click-through rate and searches with no results; this gives you a concrete list to investigate instead of guessing.

## Check the catalogue first

Confirm that relevant products are active, published and included in the completed catalogue sync. A product that is unavailable to the storefront cannot be recovered by changing a synonym.

## Check how shoppers phrase the query

Look for spelling, accents, abbreviations, alternate names or mixed-language terms. Add a synonym group when two phrases should mean the same thing. Stop words can remove individual words that add no useful distinction. Preview imports before confirming them.

## Test one change at a time

Try the query again on the storefront after updating the catalogue or search configuration. Check both whether suitable products appear and whether the order is useful. Use a merchandising rule only when the desired result is specific and intentional.
